Answer: Yes, this saliva test and saliva collection device are approved for use by Health Canada for at-home self-collection in Canada.
Is this test FDA EUA approved?
Answer: Yes, this saliva test and saliva collection device are intended for use under the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for at-home self-collection.
How do I administer this test on myself or loved ones?
Answer: The Kai Care At-Home Test Kit requires only a saliva sample. To ensure the saliva is usable for testing, do not eat, drink, or smoke 30 minutes before collecting the saliva sample. Detailed instructions will be provided to you in the test kit’s packaging. Watch this video
What address do I use to register my test?
Answer: Always use your Canadian residential address when registering your test.
Does this test detect the newest strains of COVID-19?
Answer: As of February 2021, this test can detect the following variants of COVID-19: the UK variant B.1.1.7, the South African variant B.1.1351, and the Delta variant B.1.617.2.
Can I use my Kai Care At-Home Test Kit results for travel purposes?
Answer: Yes, RT-PCR lab test like the Kai Care At-Home Saliva Test Kit is the preferred COVID-19 testing method for many travel requirements which require negative results within a very narrow timeframe. All travelers 5 years of age or older, regardless of citizenship, must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result for travel. You must take a test within 72 hours of the scheduled departure time of your flight to Canada. Airlines will refuse boarding to travelers who are unable to provide a valid molecular test result.

When will I receive my Kai Care At-Home Test Kit and results?
Answer: We offer complimentary next-day air delivery and if you order before 1PM EST, your test kit will be shipped out the same day. We also offer an overnight UPS shipping label included in your box, please contact your local UPS* for delivery specifics. Your results are available within 24-48 hours after the lab receives your sample, you’ll be notified via email or text msg.

What does this At-Home COVID-19 test collection kit measure?
Answer: The samples collected using the Kai Care At-Home Test Kit are meant for RT-PCR tests (a specific kind of molecular PCR test) that look for the presence or absence of unique genomic markers of the COVID-19 virus using a saliva sample.
Why should I get tested?
Answer: Screening testing for COVID-19 is intended to identify infected persons who are asymptomatic and without known or suspected exposure to COVID-19. Screening testing is performed to identify persons who may be contagious so that measures can be taken to prevent further transmission (Source: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC). Kai Care Tests can also detect for Influenza A + B which will determine whether you have Covid-19 or the common cold
What do I do if my results are positive?
Answer: You should remain in self-isolation, and inform your healthcare provider of your test result. You should follow the guidance provided by the CDC.
Can this test be used for International Travel?
Answer: A Kai Test result is eligible for any destination that requires a PCR test for travel. Canadian's traveling within North America may use the Kai Care Saliva Test Kit to enter the United States and return into Canada (with the exception of entry of Hawaii, but can be used to depart Hawaii). When sending the specimen back from countries outside North America and the Caribbean, there is a risk that the it may not get processed with the 72hr timeframe.
Can I use this test in the Caribbean?
Answer: Yes, The Kai Care Saliva Test Kits make it super convenient for travel. Just pack a kit in your luggage and start your activation within the 72hr timeframe of your return flight.

Can I use this kit in Mexico?
Answer: Due to Mexico’s unique legislation there is a risk that the specimen may not get processed within the 72hr timeframe. For customer convenience we suggest against the use of our test kit to fly out of Mexico.
I do not have a Canadian government issued ID, can I still get tested?
Answer: Yes, if you have a Canadian shipping address and a valid government-issued photo ID from any country (including the United States), you may purchase a test
Forms of valid photo ID include:
- A province/state issued driver’s license
- A passport
- A province/state ID card
Why do I need to activate my test?
Answer: We cannot process your test if it is not activated and linked to you. Instructions on how to activate your Kai Care At-Home Test Kit will be included in your package.
Will this test tell me if I already had COVID-19 and currently have antibodies?
Answer: This is not a test for COVID-19 antibodies, which are produced by people that have had the virus and have recovered.
Is this test suitable for use by pregnant women, children, and senior citizens?
Answer: The saliva collection process is non-invasive and as such, is able to be used by pregnant women, children, and senior citizens.
Will my test results be delivered to me in a HIPAA-compliant manner?
Answer: Yes. We take HIPAA compliance very seriously and ensure test results and information are handled in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
What if my sample comes back inconclusive?
Answer: An inconclusive test result typically means the saliva specimen sample collected was contaminated and unable to provide a result.
